How to Set Up Your First Instagram Auto DM in 5 Minutes
A step-by-step walkthrough from connecting your Instagram Professional account to firing your first comment-to-DM trigger.
How to Set Up Your First Instagram Auto DM in 5 Minutes
If you've ever stared at a viral reel with 800 comments asking for a link and thought 'there has to be a faster way' — there is. Here's how to set up your first ReplyZap trigger in under five minutes.
Step 1 — Connect your account
From the ReplyZap dashboard, click Connect Instagram. You'll go through Meta's official OAuth flow — same one Meta Business Suite uses. We never see your password.
You'll need an Instagram Professional account (Business or Creator) connected to a Facebook Page. If you're on a personal account, switch it in the Instagram app first (Settings → Account → Switch to Professional account).
Step 2 — Pick a post
Once connected, your recent posts and reels appear in ReplyZap. Pick the one that gets the most 'link?' comments.
Step 3 — Set the keyword
Tell ReplyZap which comment to listen for. Common picks: LINK, INFO, YES, or just any comment.
Pro tip: keep it short and lowercase-insensitive — link matches LINK, Link! and link please.
Step 4 — Write the DM
The DM is where the magic happens. You can include text, a button, an image, and an external link. Keep it friendly — first line should sound like you, not a robot.
Example:
Hey! Here's the link you asked about — let me know if you've got questions! 👇
Step 5 — Go live
Flip the trigger to Active. Next time someone comments your keyword, the DM fires in under two seconds and ReplyZap also replies publicly under the comment so the algorithm sees the engagement.
That's it. Watch your analytics tab for the first DMs sent within minutes.
